Objectives of the Group
The aim of this Study Group is to establish an African Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group with the following specific objectives:
- Establish a guideline for treatment of H. pylori infections in Africa.
- Establish a guideline for the management of the infection similar to the Maastricht V/Florence Consensus Report of the European Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group.
- To achieve objectives 1 & 2, three to four experts on H. pylori research from the EHMSG, primary care and general physicians, representation of the National Societies of Gastroenterology from Africa and microbiologists to establish consensus guidelines for the management of H. pylori at both primary and tertiary care levels and to consider generally health care associated with H. pylori infection.
- To connect with EHMSG for advise as a parent body that has been operating for over 30 years.
